Happy Friday everybody!
Im linking up with my favorite blogger, Shay from Mix and Match Mama, this week for her Friday Favorites and my first blog under the Favorites column to share a few of my most recent favorites things!
While my best friend Sarah was in Toledo visiting me this past weekend, we checked out the Toledo Winter Brewfest downtown at Fifth Third Field.
Lots of breweries all in one place? Sign us up!
There were about 30 breweries from across the U.S. there to fill up our tiny beer mugs with lots of different samples throughout the night. This was definitely a highlight of the weekend!
Last Friday my SLP cohort received our individual clinical placements. This semester I’m feeling especially lucky because I’m one of the two clinicians in our cohort to receive the placement at Toledo’s Traumatic Brain Injury Resource Center, where I’ll be providing group speech and language therapy to about 9 adults each week. The TBIRC provides resources, services (such as speech and language therapy or occupational therapy), and functional classes (such as art, cooking, or sewing) to adult traumatic brain injury survivors. When I first read my assignment, I really couldn’t have been more excited because this was the exact placement I had been hoping for and I knew the chances of receiving this placement have always been slim! Even though my ultimate goal is to work with children in the future, I’ve been so eager to gain more experience in providing adult therapy as I start preparing for my upcoming medical internship placement this fall. I’m looking so forward to the new challenges and experiences these clients will bring me!
Last year I bought an Erin Condren LifePlanner for the very first time and I’ll never go back to anything else. 2018 just wouldn’t have been complete without a brand new one so I chose this beauty to be my lifeline for the upcoming semesters and so far it’s successfully gotten me through the first two weeks of second semester. This planner will always be a favorite *insert heart-eyed emoji*
On Monday I was called for Jury Duty for the very first time (super exciting, I know haha). Not that is was a favorite by any means since I had to drive home and miss class, but it was actually way more interesting than I anticipated. Even though I ended up being dismissed by the defense attorney due to the fact that I work with children and the case involved a child, I’m really glad that I was able to have this experience!
Over Christmas break I read Crazy Rich Asians, the first book of a trilogy, and any book that is this laugh out loud hilarious is definitely a favorite of mine! Last week I finally started the second in the series, China Rich Girlfriend, and am just as obsessed so far.
10/10 would recommend this series!
For the past two years, comedy shows have become some of mine and Connor’s favorite date nights. We love going to see our favorite comedians on tour and for Christmas my parents got Connor and I tickets to see Jeff Dunham last night in downtown Toledo! Plus, the show was also an excuse for this guy to come down to Toledo a day earlier and that’s always a favorite of mine 🙂
And that wraps up my very first Friday favorites!
Have a great weekend!
