Connor and I met during undergrad at Central Michigan University! We were set up by our two best friends, Sarah and Josh in 2015, when they convinced Connor to ask me to his fraternity’s formal that Fall. We began dating a few weeks later on November 14th, 2015 and the rest is history 😉
It didn’t take very long for Connor and I to start talking about marriage. I’ll never forget the first night the subject came up when Connor jokingly said to me, “I think I’m going to date you for a while” and I responded with “Oh yeah? How long are you thinking?”, then without hesitation he said, “Well, until I marry you”. And that was the moment I knew. For us, it was never a discussion of if we would get married, it was always a conversation of when. There’s really no other way to describe it other than “when you know, you know”.
Connor graduated from CMU in 2016 and I still had one year of undergrad left, plus two years of graduate school coming up. We spent the next three years of our relationship living in different cities, making time to see each other whenever possible. In the Summer of 2018, Connor bought his first house and we spent the following year transforming that fixer upper into our first home. At that time, I was still completing my graduate program and internships, but the day of my graduation this past May, Connor asked me to move in with him! After almost four years of dreaming about living together and starting a life together, it was finally happening!
OUR TRIP TO TEXAS
My mom and I traveled to Texas this past Spring to visit the Magnolia Market and Silos and I just knew it was a place I wanted to eventually bring Connor. Chip and Joanna Gaines were one of the biggest inspirations for us when deciding to take on our very own fixer upper, so it was definitely a place I wanted to experience with him. Flash forward to August 2019, Connor and I began planning a trip to Texas to see my family in Dallas over Thanksgiving break. My parents, grandparents, brother, and my brother’s girlfriend came along with us too. We planned to spend the first three days of our trip around Dallas, then travel down to Waco on our very last day to visit Magnolia.
Little did I know, Connor asked my parents for their blessing in early September and had started designing a ring the following week so that he could pull off the ultimate surprise proposal on our trip!
*all the heart eyes for this man*
And for those wondering if I had any suspicions… I had SO MANY reasons to believe that a proposal was absolutely not going to happen during this trip. In my head, I was hoping for something to possibly happen over Christmas break, or maybe Spring break, since we are planning trips for those times too. HA! Thankfully I’m extremely gullible and Connor is an incredible planner. He had honestly thought through every single detail; even down to the planning of how he could avoid having to take a ring through airport security with me by his side (he sent the ring with my parents, since they flew out days before us). He left me with absolutely no reason to believe a proposal was coming.
OUR FAVORITE DAY
On November 30th, 2019, I woke up ready to take on Magnolia with Connor and my family! Little did I know this day would turn out to be the best day of my life…
We started off our day at Magnolia at the new coffee shop, Magnolia press. Then after shopping for some Christmas decor in Magnolia Market, we headed out to the lawn to explore the grounds and snap some pictures. While my cousin Jordy was taking a picture of us (see below), I started to notice a photographer that was sneaking up behind her taking pictures of us. In my head, I assumed she was a Magnolia employ taking pictures of us for their social media pages (yes, I really was that clueless HA!). I later found out that Connor hired Andrea with Wild Rose Photo Studio to secretly capture his proposal. As soon as Connor spotted her, that was his cue!
He turned to me and said “The last four years have been the best years of my life…” and that was the moment I knew!
My best friend and the man of my dreams was asking me to marry him!
And I made the easiest and BEST decision of my entire life…. I SAID YES!
The following shock, adrenaline, and tear-filled moments were spent surrounded by the love and excitement of my entire family!
After taking in the initial shock of the greatest surprise surrounded by family, Connor and I were swept away by our photographer to spend about an hour soaking in the moment around Magnolia, just the two of us. She captured moments and memories that we will cherish forever!
After our photo session, we headed back to the lawn to meet back up with my family. We spend the next few hours celebrating at Magnolia and Facetiming our friends and family back home with the news!
I love you Connor Daley and I cannot wait to spend the rest of my life loving you and laughing with you throughout #OurDaleyAdventures
Now, excuse us while we go plan the next best day of our lives!
